A Madagascan Sunset Moth (Chrysiridia rhipheus) housed in a 11 x 9”frame. Commonly mistaken for a butterfly due to the bright colours and the fact it flies during the day unlike most moths. It is found only on the island of Madagascar. Its bright colours serve as a warning to predators that it is toxic due to feeding on a poisonous plant species as larvae. Both sides of this moth are beautiful so be sure to check both sides out! Common & binomial names of the species underneath. Specimens are mounted on high quality acid free acrylic card. Free shipping within the UK. Please note you may not receive the exact specimen pictured. All natural products vary slightly. To keep your frame looking it's best make sure you display it out of direct sunlight and away from moist environments e.g. bathrooms.
